Christmas through a child’s eyes….is pure magic. We have been tracking Santa’s progress on NORAD all day, and besides being a great geography lesson, it has increased the anticipation factor heaps. And I have never seen my children get to bed faster than when we discovered Santa had zipped from Ireland to Iceland and was heading across the ocean to North America! Oh, their wide, sparkling eyes!
This might take the cake, though. As they assembled treats for Santa and his reindeer, thoughtfully considering what they might need at this stage of the journey, my kids decided on gingersnaps (which were made especially for Santa), chocolate (he may need caffeine), carrots (of course), and oats. My daughter said, “Mama, what if he takes the bowl?” and I said, “That’s fine, we’ll put them in a bowl he can take with him.”
Next thing I know she has written Santa a note.
“You can keep the bowl.
p.s. Hope the reindeer like the treats.
